Arthur C. Clarke

Hero to every geek, most likely, and certainly one of mine. 90 isn’t a bad age for anyone, I think, and if you happen to be able meld science fiction and “real” science for most of that time, unbeatable. I think the fact that he wrote sci-fi that was so fact-checked and rigourous that it forms […]

Question Box: one-key, no-screen internet

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

This is an interesting idea, that seems slightly mad at first, then starts to make perfect sense once you think about it. Then it seems really obvious. Then it makes me think about that fact that I already provide this service to family members! Cool.

MacIE no more <phew>

Tuesday, December 20th, 2005

As a huge sigh of relief escapes most web front end developers around the world following Microsoft’s news of their dropping of IE for Mac, I’m quite looking forward to the fact that we’ll be able to test XHTML/CSS on Mac browsers that are more or less sane. It’s fairly amusing seeing MS recommend Safari […]

Scoopt - citizen journalists get an outlet

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

For some reason, I saw Scoopt, thought it was a great idea, and neglected to write anything about it here! Anyway, allow me to do so now… From their FAQ: What is Scoopt? Scoopt is a media agency that has been created specifically to help members of the public sell photographs […]
